Computer networks

Electronic mail, remote work, electronic commerce, resource sharing and many other benefits that we take for granted today are made possible thanks to computer networks. That is why it is not an exaggeration to say that computer networks are the basis of the functioning of modern society.

Characteristics of computer networks

Key components and concepts that define modern computer networks include:

  • Communication: Networks enable seamless communication between individuals and organizations. Electronic mail, instant messaging, video conferencing, and many collaboration tools rely on computer networks to facilitate real-time communication.
  • Resource sharing: Computer networks enable the sharing of resources such as files, documents, printers, and software applications, thus promoting efficiency and collaboration.
  • Access to information: Networks provide access to vast amounts of information stored on servers, databases and cloud services.
  • Global Connectivity: Computer networks, especially the Internet, connect people and businesses on a global scale. This has transformed the world into a closely connected global village, facilitating international cooperation, trade, and communication.
  • Business Operations: In a business environment, computer networks are fundamental to day-to-day operations – customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management, financial transactions, etc.
  • Remote access and telecommuting: Networks provide remote access to systems and resources, allowing employees to work from different locations.
  • Resource savings: Networking allows resources to be shared, reducing the need for redundant equipment and services.
  • Entertainment and media: Networks are essential for the delivery of entertainment content, including streaming services, online games and social media platforms.
  • E-commerce: The growth of e-commerce is highly dependent on secure and reliable computer networks. Online shopping, electronic payments and digital transactions are made easier and faster thanks to computer networks.
  • Education and Research: In educational institutions, computer networks provide access to online resources, collaborative learning platforms, and communication tools.
  • Security and data protection: Networks play a key role in implementing security measures to protect data and systems from unauthorized access.
  • Health care: Networks are an integral part of modern health systems, they support electronic health records, telemedicine and the exchange of medical information.

Used solutions

Coming has many years of experience in the implementation of various network solutions, which include advanced and modern techniques in the field of computer networks. Network segmentation, configuration of advanced routing and switching protocols, different types of VPN connections, are only a small part of the requirements that Coming can respond to.

What makes Coming particularly stand out are solutions that include high availability of network services, which means that the services function smoothly even in the event of a sudden failure of one or more network components. High security of the user’s entire information system is ensured by the use of advanced protective barriers (Next Generation Firewall).

Domains of expertise

  • Design and implementation of network solutions based on real user needs:
    • LAN mreže
    • WAN mreže
    • WLAN mreže
    • Network security
    • Disaster Recovery
  • Optimization and upgrading of existing solutions
  • Increasing redundancy
  • Installation and configuration of network components from different manufacturers (Cisco, HP, Fortinet, Check Point, Dell, VMware NSX…)
  • Monitoring of network devices, as well as the entire network
  • Vulnerability tests and reporting

  • Education

Connecting and functioning of computer networks

A computer network is a collection of interconnected devices, such as computers, servers, printers, and other hardware, that connect to share resources and information. In order for these devices to be able to exchange information, it is necessary to be connected to network devices, using electrical or optical cables, or wirelessly, via radio waves.

Communication between devices within the network is a complex process based on sets of rules (protocols) and various parameters that are added to the original information (MAC and IP address, TCP/UDP port and similar). Encryption is often included in communication, which ensures safe and secure data transfer. Based on how they manipulate data and parameters, as well as which set of protocols they use, network devices are classified into switches, routers, protective barriers (firewalls), VPN concentrators and others (it is often the case that one and the same device has multiple functionalities).
